Meridian Collection

Southern Lines Meridian is a solid rainwood dining table defined by rhythm rather than stillness. Formed from a single South American rainwood slab, the surface carries a strong linear grain that advances with clarity, creating a sense of movement held within structure. The form feels directional and composed, allowing natural energy to remain present without becoming expressive or chaotic.

The character of the slab lies in its directionality. Grain density shifts subtly across the surface, producing variation without interruption. Natural voids and internal cavities are selectively stabilised with black translucent epoxy resin, introduced only where structurally required. The resin integrates quietly into the composition, reinforcing continuity while preserving the dominance of the wood.

The surface is lightly brushed and finished with a matte wood wax oil, maintaining the tactile quality of the rainwood while protecting the slab for everyday use. This restrained finish enhances depth and grain clarity without adding visual weight, allowing the material to remain honest and balanced.

Designed as part of the Meridian Collection, Southern Lines Meridian is conceived as a modular composition. The slab can be paired with a selection of sculptural base options, each subtly shifting stance and visual weight while preserving proportion, stability, and structural integrity across different interior environments.

Handcrafted by Woodslabs, this solid rainwood dining table is suited to contemporary dining spaces, private residences, and architectural interiors where clarity, direction, and material discipline are valued.

Defined by Natural Lines

Creation Story of Southern Lines Meridian Table

The colouring of Southern Lines is a natural expression of South American rainwood, shaped by slow growth, mineral-rich soil, and long exposure to seasonal rainfall. Deep chocolate and espresso tones sit alongside warmer amber and honey hues, forming layered bands that move confidently along the length of the slab.

These tonal shifts are not applied or enhanced artificially. They emerge from natural variations in density within the wood — where tighter grain absorbs light differently from softer growth zones. Darker bands mark periods of slower growth, while lighter passages reveal openness and flow, giving the surface both depth and rhythm.

Rather than equalising or flattening the colour, the finish is deliberately restrained. A wood wax oil is used to protect the surface while allowing contrast to remain visible, preserving the transition between shadowed grain and lighter sapwood edges. This approach keeps the colouring calm and grounded, avoiding high gloss or visual distraction.

The result is a surface where colour reads as movement rather than decoration — a quiet dialogue between light and dark that reinforces the table’s linear character and sense of natural direction.

Sustainability and Wood Origin

We source our timber from trusted sawmills around the world, working only with partners who share our commitment to sustainability and responsible woodland management. The trees we use are never cut down purely for production — our wood comes from trees that have reached the natural end of their life cycle or have been carefully recovered from managed forests.

Each slab is firstly air dried for a minimum of 2-5 years and then kiln dried to 8-12% moisture content, which ensures its strength and stability. Every piece we craft celebrates the beauty of wood while caring for the forests it came from.

Your table is protected with a premium wax oil finish that enhances the wood’s natural beauty while allowing it to breathe. With simple care, it will age beautifully for years to come.
